The World is in Labor
And a New world is being born

Fifteen years ago, my father had shoulder cuff surgery, and I remember being in the recovery room waiting for him to wake up. For some reason, the TV in there was showing a video of a woman giving birth. I don’t know why, and it was not what I wanted to watch; and It. Was. Terrible. I remember thinking HARD PASS. It was violent and messy, so I just turned off the television. I’m sure if I had kept watching and had seen that little baby being born, maybe that would’ve made it ok, but I didn’t, and it was just awful.
I think that’s what’s happening in the world right now, white supremacy, colonialism, capitalism, patriarchy, and all these violent structures of hierarchy are dying, imploding because none of these systems are sustainable; but I do believe something is being born. I think a new world is coming, one that is egalitarian, and to be very clear, by that I mean matriarchal. Matriarchy is not the inversion of patriarchy. It’s a way of governing that is horizontal, collaborative; it includes men, women, and children governing with all sentient beings in mind, including ecosystems, animals, and this planet itself.
I don’t know if this is in fifty years, a hundred, or a thousand plus, but I do know something’s being born, and those who evolve and adapt to become more inclusive, loving, and collaborative will survive, and so will their descendants. However, those who cling to hierarchical and violent systems will go the way of the dinosaur, like those who celebrated Renee Good's murder and all of ICE’s murders, kidnappings, and imprisonment of people into concentration camps. And frankly, good riddance.
